Oscar Video Reviews

Update: Oscar- The Morning After

I think the academy did as can be expected with an exceptionally weak film year. I think "King's Speech" was the best major release this year and I agree, and was, in fact, able to call virtually all the winners but two. But boy, when the academy blows it, they blow it big time:

1) Christian Bale- Bale showed what a tool he is in his speech where he plugged the fighter he portrayed in the movie's website. Tacky. Classless. As far as his acting, Bale lost weight, for the role, changed his look, became hyper. And that's about it. It's a one dimensional histrionic performance.

2) Ditto for the world's most overrated actress, Natalie Portman. An entire performance where her character is on the verge of breaking into tears. It was grinding to watch. Like Bale, she transformed her body, over-acted and was, if not, histrionic, on the verge of it.

The Oscar show itself was dead on arrival, but the rest of the selections were I think, pretty much on the nose.
